The University of Michigan is in Ann Arbor, a vibrant and diverse community consistently rated as one of the best places to live in the United States

We are seeking a pediatric psychologist to join the M-COPE Program (UM Congenital Heart Center Psychosocial and Educational Program) within the UM Congenital Heart Center at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. The M-COPE Program aims to 1) increase access to mental health care for patients throughout the lifespan, from fetal through adult congenital heart disease care, 2) be a leading, nationally recognized program for psychosocial research in pediatric cardiology, and 3) provide training to all learners in the psychosocial care of pediatric and young adult cardiology patients and families. As an international, high-surgical volume referral center, the UM Congenital Heart Center is one of the largest and most experienced cardiology programs in the world. Together with our M-COPE psychology team, the UM Congenital Heart Center is proud to lead research in cardiac neurodevelopmental care, mental health intervention and outcomes research, social determinants of health, healthcare disparities, and more. Together with their cardiology colleagues, our M-COPE psychologists are leaders within Cardiac Networks United and the NHLBI-funded Pediatric Heart Network.

Clinical effort will be directed toward providing behavioral health services to adolescents and adults with heart disease and their families across inpatient, outpatient and multidisciplinary clinic settings. This recruitment is targeting faculty effort to specifically support, 1) program development in transition and adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) care and 2) general cardiology clinic mental health referrals, while also supporting ongoing grant-funded research led by our team members. Based on the background of the candidate, effort will be allocated to allow opportunity to engage in extramurally funded research/scholarly activity that aligns with the overall objectives and activities of the Division of Pediatric Psychology, Division of Pediatric Cardiology, and the M-COPE Program.

The administrative home of the successful candidate would be the Division of Pediatric Psychology, which is comprised of 25 faculty who are fully integrated into pediatric subspecialty and primary care areas, and have close and supportive working relationships with both community pediatricians and hospital-based physician specialists. Supervision and training for pediatric psychology postdoctoral fellows, interns, advanced practicum students, pediatric house officers, and medical students is expected.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree from an APA/CPA-accredited program and internship, postdoctoral training in pediatric psychology, and be licensed or license-eligible as a Psychologist in the State of Michigan. Successful applicants will have clinical expertise in pediatric behavioral health and pediatric and adult congenital and acquired heart diseases, along with a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and a strong foundation in evidence-based practice. Experience in program development, implementation, and clinical research is also highly desirable. This role will collaborate closely with providers and medical leadership across the many service lines at Michigan Medicine, ancillary support services, community providers, and Michigan Medicine administration. Faculty rank and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences.
