Berklee College of Music is looking for a proactive, highly organized, and service-oriented Operations Manager to anchor the daily operations of the Music Business/Management Department. As one of our largest academic hubs, this department shapes the future leaders of the entertainment industry. This role blends executive administrative support, financial tracking, event coordination, and academic operations into a vibrant, collaborative workspace.
At Berklee, our mission is to nurture creativity, innovation, and passion. We believe in working in a way that is deeply student-centered, ensuring our community has the support they need to thrive. As a member of our team, your work is mission-driven every single day, directly impacting the next generation of global artists and industry pioneers.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
Because this role serves as the heartbeat of daily campus life, this position requires a consistent, dependable on-site presence at our Boston campus to maintain a welcoming, high-functioning environment.
Departmental & Financial Operations: Provide high-level support to the Chair and Assistant Chair. Track the departmental budget, handle purchasing, contracts, and invoices, and manage student employees. You will also oversee newsletters, webpage updates, and social media.
Academic & Student Support: Serve as the friendly initial point of contact for student inquiries regarding degrees and minors. Assist with academic scheduling, guide faculty to campus resources, and provide operational support during peak cycles like registration and graduation.
Events & Special Projects: Plan and execute workshops and guest speaker series, coordinating everything from travel and venue reservations to partnering with production staff for seamless A/V execution.
What You Bring
Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, arts management, higher education, or a related field, alongside at least three years of experience in a fast-paced administrative or office management role.
Skills: Exceptional multitasking and communication skills, a tech-savvy approach (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and modern project management tools), and a knack for anticipating needs and solving problems independently.
Bonus Points: Prior experience in higher education, arts administration, or the music industry, as well as familiarity with Workday, Colleague, or Mailchimp.
Culture & Benefits
Berklee thrives on a culture of shared passion and mutual respect. We are deeply committed to work-life balance, providing a supportive ecosystem where staff can grow personally and professionally. From creative campus events to robust wellness resources, Berklee ensures that working here is as fulfilling as it is inspiring.
