Research Associate II, Analytical Development
Job Description
Position Summary:

In this role, you will execute analytical methods and manage analytical data to advance the gene therapy development for ultra-rare diseases. This position is a hands-on, laboratory-based role that will be responsible for maintaining data visualization tools and information workflows to support Analytical Development, as well as operating several automated/semi-automated analytical methods. Reporting to the Analytical Development automation team leader, the successful applicant will work closely with other scientists and research associates in the group and should be comfortable around automation lab and molecular biology lab environments. The applicant should also be comfortable collaborating with IT, and Records Management Teams to streamline data workflows used to support Analytical Development. We are looking for someone who is flexible, can work well independently, and can respond quickly, energetically, and enthusiastically to change and challenge.
Work Model:
Core Lab & Ops: This role typically requires that the majority of the work be conducted on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments for high-throughput genome titer testing (such as qPCR and dPCR) manually or by utilizing a range of automation equipment (Echo liquid handler, integrated workcells, Hamilton liquid handlers).
- Generate, maintain, document and summarize analytical results in a highly organized manner.
- Assist assay troubleshooting with supervision.
- Present results of experimentation in internal meetings and draft method development report.
- Participate in the requirement building, configuration, testing, implementation and deployment of laboratory data automation and/or data visualization solutions.
- Develop, document and deploy standard operating procedures (SOPs) that can be referenced by end users for technical assistance and during training.
- Assist other analytical lab activities such as sample handling, machine and reagent maintenance as needed.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidates should possess biological lab skills with strong data analysis ability in one of the following tools: Excel, data visualization tools like Power BI/Tableau, or have a strong desire and ability to learn these tools with minimal guidance.
- Hands-on experience in operating molecular methods, especially PCR-based methods.
- Proficient skills in technical writing and communication, with the ability to execute and complete relevant documentation.
- Strong motivation and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills to work in the lab as a team member.
- Master of science in Biology, bioengineering, or bioinformatics/data science with 0-2 years of related experience or BS with 2-4 years of related experience.
Physical Demand Requirements:
Lab:
- Stand for extended periods of time with periodic stooping / bending / kneeling
- Able to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs.
- Climb ladders and stairs of various heights.
- Work in a lab environment requiring special protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body. This role requires the ability to wear personal protective equipment.
- Certain tasks may require use of a respirator; medical clearance will be required in advance.

The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
