Job Summary
The Scientist in Exploratory R&D is responsible for developing cell culture & handling reagents including buffers, media and cryopreservation solutions. In particular, the candidate will be involved in optimization and troubling of cell culture processes, in order to establish a consistent and improved cell culture method for primary cells, cell lines and other relevant cell types.
This role will also support new product development for cell-based applications, including generating relevant biologic samples for recombinant protein & antibody verifications. Knowledge of process development in small and large scale is a plus.
The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy. Be able to maintain good documentation practices of experiments and generate reports. Must be proficiency in computer software use (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task, as well as collaborative and good communication skills.

- Design and conduct experiments.
- Troubleshooting and conduct process improvements of cell culture and cell-based assay, in collaboration with R&D, Product Development and Manufacturing cell culture teams.
- Develop optimized scaling procedures that address cost, time and quality for bioreactors.
- Create ISO compliant documentation and train affected team on new processes
- Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced goal driven environment
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with teams including R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality Control.
- Other projects and responsibilities as may be required.
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
- PhD in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemical Engineering or related life science discipline with more than 2 years of industrial experience
- 2-4 years of industry experience in cell culture media production
Preferred Qualifications - Education and Experience
- Previous hands on experience in culturing & handling stem/progenitor cells from different tissue sources.
- Previous hands on experience in developing cell-based assay
- Strong scientific understanding of immunology, stem cell/development biology or neuroscience as well as the ability to explore and develop new technologies and approaches.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000-$100,000/year. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company.
