SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for the overall general ledger accounting, cash management and financial reporting for assigned properties within prescribed deadlines. Interacts extensively with Property Accountants, Accounting Clerks and Regional Property Managers. Manages and mentors the development of Property Accountants and Accounting Clerks. Reports to the Controller.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains the assigned property and partnership G/L accounts.
- Monitors the cash flow of properties, manages cash on a daily basis, and forecasts required funds.
- Approves the disbursement of payables based upon timing and available cash.
- Monitors property escrow & reserve accounts for related expenditures and to ensure proper funding in accordance with loan & partnership agreements.
- Participates in monthly conference calls with RPM's to review the financial operations of the properties and assists with cash projections and sourcing funds for significant expenditures.
- Prepares monthly financial statements for properties and saves electronic copies to the network drive.
- Prepares and submits, for the Controller's approval, the monthly, quarterly and annual property reports for investors and lenders. Once reviewed and approved, ensures that all reports are properly distributed.
- Prepares, submits and can approve other accountants ACH transfer requests.
- Prepares year-end property and partnership audit files and reconciles them against the prior year's audited trial balance and retained earnings.
- Prepares supporting work papers for audit and tax return preparation
- Monitors the submission of requested information from auditors.
- Provides training and/or mentorship for new property accountants, regional managers and property managers as needed.
- Assists controller in leading a team of other property accountants.
- Special projects as required by the department and/or properties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for managing and leading the Property Accountants and Accounting Clerks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office environment; hybrid remote / telecommuting available after 60 days. Offers flexible schedule working four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an Accounting or Finance related role required with at least 2 years' experience managing a team of accountants.
- Education: BA or BS Accounting, Finance or related field of study required. CPA accreditation is preferred but not required.

- Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, ten-key, monitors, scanner, phone, copier, fax machine, and other office equipment.
