Alternate Perspectives, Incorporated (API) has an immediate opening for a Career Preparation Intructor at one of its Job Corps Facilites. You will be a part of the nation's most successful youth training and education program, Job Corps, for the past 60 years.
As a Job Corps team member, you will be responsible for providing career preparation instruction to new students that will enhance career readiness and job search competencies. As an instructor you will need to utilize a blended learning style and be able to differentiate your instruction based off of different student needs. This position does focus on maintaining a positive classroom environment and allowing the classroom setting to be engaging as well as teaching accountability. You will be faclitating students thought a MYPACE program that helps them learn about who they are as a person and what direction they want to go. Here at Job Corps we believe every student can learn, it is just needs to be presented in a way they understand.
Some Essential Functions:
- Instruct new students on basic skills that will enhance career readiness and job search competencies.
- Motivate and counsel students in areas of retention, career success standards, career readiness, social skills and other areas as described in the career preparation curriculum.
- Coordinate delivery of individualized services with career preparation counselors, residential advisors and other departments as necessary to resolve concerns affecting student's commitment to continuing and completing training.
- Provide a classroom atmosphere conducive to continuous learning and student retention.
- Administer and correct tests and other assessment instruments; maintain and monitor student accountability and attendance daily in center information system (CIS); monitor and report student status daily to the supervisor of career preparation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and one year related experience. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
