JOB SUMMARY:

This part-time position will work with Mountain Youth Network (MYN) staff to facilitate the TREK Teen Council (TREK). TREK Teen Council represents the youth voice in Clear Creek County, acting as an advisory group to Mountain Youth Network to inform community initiatives and youth programming. The TREK Teen Council Coordinator follows the Communities That Care (CTC) model to provide youth with opportunities for community involvement and fulfilling experiences to create a positive future. We believe that young people have the ultimate expertise in the lives of youth and youth culture: 'Nothing about us without us.' The TREK Coordinator will provide direction, planning, and co-facilitation for all TREK Teen Council outreach and activities. This role will support students in community presentations (TREK Talks), TREK Leadership meetings, and regular outreach events like lunch table announcements, morning greetings, and the annual TREK visioning session. The TREK Teen Council Coordinator follows the Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework to promote protective factors and prevent risk behaviors, including substance use and violence.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
* Plan and facilitate TREK Teen Council meetings.
* Maintain communication with TREK Teen Council student leadership
* Support in the implementation of MYN tobacco education and cessation efforts
* Recruit and manage student presentation group (TREK Talks)
* Engage and guide youth to create presentation content for TREK Talks
* Provide oversight on social media strategy and other youth-focused communications to ensure content is appropriate and effective
* Positive Youth Development Trainer
* Promote the Social Development Strategy Framework
* Support with budget management, collection of data, and grant reporting
* Aid in the instruction of programs as necessary
* Oversee MYN Youth Advisors
* Organize TREK Morning Greetings with the Clear Creek Middle and High School
* Other duties as assigned by the MYN Manager or MYN Youth Involvement Coordinator.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
* Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent Experience and interest in providing youth voice and youth perspective.
* Experience with grant and budget management
* Excellent grammar and writing skills.
* Public speaking experience preferred.

* Event Planning: Skills in organizing events, meetings, and activities that engage and educate council members.

* Mentorship: Providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to help teens grow personally and professionally.

* Patience and Empathy: The ability to relate to and understand teenagers' unique challenges and perspectives.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and creatively to address issues within the council.
* Flexibility: Adaptability to work with diverse groups of teens with varying needs, schedules, and interests.
* Organizational Skills: Managing multiple tasks, maintaining records, and ensuring the council's activities run smoothly.
* Motivational: The ability to inspire and motivate teens to actively participate and take on leadership roles within the council.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must pass a background check: Criminal and Traffic
* Conviction of a crime will not be an absolute bar to employment

* United States citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States

SUPERVISORY:

This position oversees MYN Youth Advisors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Work may require meeting deadlines set by others and participation in evening meetings. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, sitting, driving passenger vehicles, keyboarding, bending, and stretching. Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds. Clear vision at 20 inches or less and up to 20 feet or more; use of corrective eyewear is acceptable. Work includes hearing voices either in person or via telephone conversations. Occasionally requires travel for business-related issues.
