ABOUT THE ROLE:
This position is part of the Department’s newly established Body Worn Camera (BWC) Unit. Under the supervision and guidance of the Digital Specialist Manager of the BWC Unit, this position will support the successful operation of the BWC Unit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core responsibilities of this position include the following:
Supports the unit with maintaining footage (audio and/or visual) and related disclosure requirements according to departmental and City policies, rules and regulations, and related state and federal laws and regulations.
Stores all digital data footage from Body Worn Cameras, Public Safety Cameras, and other technological advancements, ensuring it is available for retrieval by authorized personnel or external agencies, in compliance with relevant Department rules and regulations.
Supports the BWC unit with set up, installation of BWC related equipment where necessary
Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to cameras and their associated audio/visual footage.
Assists with maintaining a complete and cataloged record of all records requests, including but not limited to Public Records Law requests, and all information disseminated to internal CPD sworn personnel and internal partners, and external records requests.
Assists with the identification and redaction of confidential, privileged, private, or exempt documents/video or parts thereof.
Assist with the Department’s benchmarking and goals tracking programs.
Records and resolves issues promptly, ensuring accurate documentation of all actions taken.
Maintains and updates an equipment inventory including system accessories; and proactively identifies any inventory needs.
Addresses and supports requests related to BWCs, public safety cameras, and other relevant technologies.
Under the supervision of the Digital Support Manager deliver excellent technical/non-technical support with outstanding customer service, satisfaction, and timeliness in resolving issues.
Collaborate with the Property and Evidence Unit regarding footage that is booked into evidence.
Track and monitor the progress of project activities; report status, risks, issues; recommend adjustments to ensure the ongoing success of the unit.
Collaborate with colleagues in other departments to perform tasks and produce records and reports needed to meet the BWC unit deliverables.
Participates in ongoing training as required.

Support the Department’s participation in the Department’s Transparency and the City’s open data portal.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the information technology field and/or technical support.

PREFFERED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience with Public Safety Agencies and/or Body Worn Cameras preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is conducted primarily in an office environment with fluorescent lighting but also involves meetings in other offices or facilities. Ability to use office equipment efficiently; ability to travel to meetings and site visits in various locations in or around Cambridge. Normal office working conditions with regular extended work hours and/or weekends.
