The Director, US BioXcellence is responsible for achieving US Biopharma's sales volume target of approximately $200m USD annually. This role provides leadership to US-based and related HP BioPharma's contract manufacturing activities within the BioXcellence organization (BioX). The local US BioX team is accountable for generating new business opportunities and establishing and expanding key customer accounts to strengthen and drive the BioX business pipeline within the global HP Biopharma network.
This role is responsible for driving a sustainable growth of the global BioX business and develop and define competitive and customized proposals. The incumbent will ensure closure of contracts, develop global business models and strategies for different client categories in different sales regions, and ensure efficient and lean processes and fast throughput times for proposals, contracts and change orders.
The Director, BioXcellence will participate in the creation of and be accountable for executing the HP BioPharma BioX strategy as well as will lead a team in accordance with BI leadership principles.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads highly skilled cross functional business team (Proposal & Contracts and Key Account managers), representing HP BioPharma BioX in the US territory in accordance with BI leadership principles.
- Coaches and supports team members in contract negotiation strategies and tactics.
- Effectively collaborates within global HP BioPharma BioX teams and group functions (e.g., Finance, Legal) to develop and respond in a consistent and unified manner to global customer needs and accounts.
- Supports BI corporate initiatives (BI Safe, BI Quality Initiative, SD4G).
- Responsible for achieving BioX Sales target for US Biopharma approx. 200million USD, plus sales from BI pipeline products.
- Analyzes business potentials and business risks, compile assessments and presents to local & global leadership team.
- Chairs local US BioX meeting.
- As a member of the US BioPharma leadership, updates the team about business relevant topics.
- Acts as US BioX expert and representative in local and global initiatives and projects.
- Participates in creating and accountable for executing the HP BioPharma BioX strategy.
- Oversees creating and implementing the Key Account strategy for US based clients (long-term targets, business and price strategies, maintenance of business relationship).
- Actively contributes to the development and management of global customer accounts for BioX.
- Leads team to drive customer focus and portfolio optimization in alignment with site priorities.
- Accountable for short-, mid- and long-term sales planning for US Biopharma site (Budget, LTF Process) in close interaction with global BioX & Finance.
- Ensures achievement of sales and profitability targets.
Compensation Data
This position offers a base salary typically between (170,000) and (269,000). There is opportunity to consider higher compensation above this range based on business need, candidate experience and or skills. - Master's Degree required around Business Administration, Economics or Biopharmaceuticals.
- Requires > ten (10) years' experience in Contract Manufacturing Business, distinctive business orientation as well as technical knowledge is required.
- Strategic thinking and implementation of strategy into business is very important.
- Solid understanding of the Biotech/Pharma market, products, players, technologies in the North America Market and strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people (direct or matrix).
- Ability and desire to build a consultative team that focuses on building business partnerships with their customer base and managing international projects.
- Thorough understanding of mammalian manufacturing technologies is required.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and negotiating proposals required.
- Must have experience in hosting domestic and international customers.
- Ability to interpret industry trends and competitive information and develop strategies and tactics to respond to changes in the marketplace.
- Ability to work independently and travel.
- Understanding of the associated regulatory requirements for our industry.
- Superior oral and written communication skills required.
- Strong group presentation skills are necessary.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proposes a target portfolio for US Biopharma which supports BioX strategy and is aligned with local management team.
- Assesses deviations to sales and profitability targets and discuss with management appropriate measures.
- Manages the evaluation of global customer inquiries (RfP) and the creation of customized and competitive (best price, timelines) proposals and offers in line with customer satisfaction.
- Ensures that team members manage the initial end-to-end acquisition process from business assessment, evaluation, lead qualification and validation, proposal development to contract negotiation.
- Maintains accountability through integration of the customer's product into BI and post-closing issue resolution.
- Ensures proposal updates of running projects and execution of amendments to the respective contracts.
- Negotiates and closes contracts.
- Aligns on negotiation strategy within cross functional team (KAM, Proposal & Contracts, Legal, Finance) and contractual provisions with site functions (Operations, SCM, Quality).
- Applies smart risk taking to meet the business objectives.
- Asserts BI process standards to reduce complexity in execution of the contract.
- Develops and implements commercial price structures.
- Initiates and evaluates benchmark studies to secure competitiveness and profitability.
- Directs the development and implementation of specific global business models for different client categories and sales regions.
- Responsible for cash flow management.
- Responsible for invoicing of finalized work packages, initiate cash collection process.
- Manages the income statement related booking in accordance with BI principles and in close collaboration with Finance and Controlling.
