Full Job Description
Position Title: Highway Designer
Location: New Haven, Connecticut, United States
Department: Highway/Roadway
Description: We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Highway Designer to join our New Haven, CT office.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of conceptual design alternatives into contract plans, specifications, and construction estimates for highway, roadway bridge, interchange and draining projects
- Assist in the design of ADA compliant facilities, including sidewalks, shared-use paths and intersection curb ramps
- Assist in the design and production of traffic control and staging plans and traffic, signing and striping plans
- Assist in the production of engineering reports and other technical documents
- Attend occasional field visits and meetings to gather data or assist in construction inspections
- Create 2D and 3D design models with computer design software such as: AutoCAD, OpenRoads and AutoTurn
- Work in coordination with H&H offices across the country to deliver projects that make roads safer
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- EIT certification and prior internship experience (preferred)
- Zero-three years of experience
- Microstation V8i, Bentley OpenRoads experience (preferred)
- Experience with CTDOT and/or the CTDOT Highway Design Manual (preferred)
- Strong math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in cooperative team environments
