Job Description Summary

The Human Resources Specialist will play a vital role in providing HR support and assistance across various HR functions. This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering excellent HR services to employees. This role encompasses a wide range of specialist responsibilities including on-boarding/offboarding, improving the employee experience, HRIS management, benefits administration, payroll administration, compliance, safety and security, reporting analytics, office engagement and more.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • HR Administration and Support
    • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as: policies and procedures, general inquiries, PTO, and help resolve any issues that may arise. Partners with COEs as needed. 
    • Assist in benefits administration by explaining benefit plans, managing leaves, and addressing employee inquiries as well as processing these within our HRIS.
    • Partner with Benefits to educate employee during open enrollment and throughout the administration process for medical, dental, vision, 401k and more.
  • Support Talent Acquisition, Employee onboarding and transition
    • Support the HRBP and coordinate the internal mobility interview process and schedule interviews with candidates and hiring managers, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
    • Owns and manages the onboarding process for new employees, including paperwork preparation, orientation, and ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
    • Ensure that all new hire paperwork is completed including background, references, drug testing, I9 and other documents required by Bel Brands policy or law.  
    • Analyze onboarding and offboarding trends for all colleagues and recommend solutions to enhance experiences.
  • HR Data Management
    • Provides support on data analysis for HR related matters and ensures data integrity for business populations. 
    • Lead on data collection and review for due-diligence processes working closely with the Senior HRBP to ensure smooth integration of colleagues to the organization.  
    • In charge of drilling down into reports to provide Senior HRBP high-level overviews as needed (engagement, retention, headcount, business functions, internal mobility, leaves, attrition, etc) 
    • Responsible for sending out surveys (new hire, engagement, awards, etc.) and providing insights and recommendations.  
    • Conduct new hire check-ins and exit surveys and look to provide insights and recommendations based on feedback from employees. Maintain tracking of trends and themes.  
  • Employee Engagement and Recognition
    • Lead, create and implement the calendar of monthly employee engagement events for the Chicago office to foster a positive workplace culture and environment
    • Track and manage the budgets working closely with Chicago HRBP.  
    • Collaborate with DEI partners to enhance the Chicago office experience.   
    • Responsible for organizational announcements for new hires, promotions, etc. related to the corporate business.  
  • HR Compliance and Legal
    • Stay up to date on HR trends, best practices, and legal requirements to ensure compliance and recommend changes or improvements as needed.
    • Maintain up to date HR records and employee files
    • Assist in compliance activities, conducts audits, and maintain employee records.
  • General HR and Chicago Office Support and Projects
    • Provides general support and assistance in HR projects and initiatives as assigned by the HR team.
    • Support various all company initiatives and summits as necessary.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; SHRM-CP/S/PHR preferred

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 years of experience in HR or in a similar HR role.

SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR processes; strong problem-solving skills and appetite for great customer service
  • Proficient in HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite. ADP & SuccessFactors experience a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to adapt with the uncertainties of an evolving, dynamic organization
  • Must have well developed skills using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Strong attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed largely in a hybrid office environment.
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours equaling 40 hours per week.
  • Some variation in work hours is expected due to special projects, deadlines, and other matters.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift 10–20-pound boxes.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional travel to other company locations may be required on a limited basis.

Hybrid Schedule:  Tuesday & Wednesday in-office with flexibility to support occasional in-office attendance Mondays and Thursdays

TOTAL REWARDS: 

FLSA - Non-Exempt

Salary Range - $75,000-$85,000

Bonus – 7%

401k, Medical, Dental, Vision from Day One, PTO days and more
