About the Role
HEDGE FUND INVESTOR RELATIONS
The Hedge Fund Investor Relations group at Wellington Management works closely with investment teams, relationship teams, and business colleagues across the firm to support our clients’ investment needs. The investors that the team works with are specialized in alternative investments, specifically hedge fund strategies including Equity Long/Short, Global Macro, Credit and Multi-Strategy. By virtue of this specialization, the investors span a wide range of disciplines, asset classes, geographies, industries, and styles. The product management function has three main objectives:
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING
Contributing to client growth and retention by assessing business opportunities and leading business planning, developing new products and investment solutions, creating the communication strategy for the book of business, including materials that differentiate the product relative to competitors and acting as a subject matter expert and portfolio representative for colleagues, clients and consultants.
INVESTMENT INTEGRITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Acting as an independent advisor to ensure the integrity of the investment and risk management processes, as well as consistency with client parameters and objectives, conducting regular product risk and performance attributions reviews, and contributing to formal, investment review group processes.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Contributing to business management, including managing risk, capacity, pricing, and guidelines, leading the resolution of internal business challenges, and collaborating on product management business to share investment integrity, marketing and product development best practices.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Hedge Fund Investment Specialist will work as part of one or more product coverage teams, led by an Investment Director, covering Equity Long/Short strategies. The primary focus of the role is to provide analytical leverage to the team as well as be a point of contact for a variety of internal constituents regarding inquiries about the investment teams and products under coverage. Over time, the Investment Specialist may also increasingly represent products externally to clients, prospects, and consultants.
Responsibilities include performing analyses related to portfolio positioning, performance and risk, market trends, competitive positioning, and pricing. Additional responsibilities may include creation and maintenance of marketing and client materials, review of RFPs, responses to client questions, automation of workflow, and collaboration on the development of client solutions and new investment approaches.
QUALIFICATIONS
Success in the role requires a demonstrated interest in investment topics and passion for learning, as well as strong analytical skills. A positive, collegial attitude and high level of professionalism are essential, as are creativity, initiative and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with tight deadlines.
Further qualifications include:
• At least 6 years of relevant industry experience and a record of achievement. Experience at a hedge fund, alternative asset manager, sell-side firm or management consultancy desirable but not required
• An MBA and/or CFA is desirable but not required
• Strong critical thinking skills, comfort with ambiguity, and a willingness to take initiative
• Advanced analytical skill including the ability to frame issues, identify important points, and draw conclusions
• Attention to detail combined with a solutions-oriented, strategic mindset
• Solid judgment, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to take a differentiated perspective
• Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings
• Articulate with an interest in developing presentation skills
• Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with a global team
• Strong technical skills; mastery of MS Excel and familiarity with Bloomberg and Factset are a plus but not essential
• Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize time well
• Grace under pressure with an ability to adapt and get things done
• A global perspective and/or language skills are viewed favorably.

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
USD 65,000 - 150,000This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.
Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
