Position Title: Quality Engineer

Compensation:

This position reports to the Director of Quality and New Product Development.

Scope & Responsibilities of Quality Engineer: (Not limited to)

  • Lead/facilitate select Root Cause Analysis teams identified from Quality Deviation Reports (Customer Complaints), Internal Evaluations, and Environmental Incident reports.
  • Coordinate the review of Quality and Environmental procedures associated with the Refinery Process and Blending Plant continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support, contribute, and lead process improvement activities across all areas of the organization.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of non-conformities relating to product, process or the environment.
  • Undertake internal project and management audits during the tender, design and manufacture stages
  • Write reports and present progress at meetings
  • Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern product quality
  • Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Six-Sigma and Measurement System Analysis
  • Serve as a resource to Area Team Leaders and Unit Specialists to analyze process and quality data
  • Help to establish goals and objectives for continuous improvement in quality and environmental performance.
  • Develop an Environmental Management System (EMS) with an Environmental Manual that aligns with ISO 14001:2015 and serves as a resource to integrate the Quality Management System with an EMS (ISO 14001).
  • Serve as a backup to all functions of the Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist

Education & Experience for Quality Engineer:

  • BS in an engineering discipline, physical science, or mathematics
  • At least 5 years' experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • ASQ training and certifications desired
  • Experience in Six Sigma (Certified Greenbelt or Black Belt) desired.

Other Qualifications of Quality Engineer:

  • Highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and statistical software such as Minitab.
  • ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 internal auditor training
  • Strong experience in standard quality tools such as: FMEA, Cause & Effect, and Root cause analysis, and establishing control plans
  • Interpersonal communication and teamwork skills

Physical & Cognitive Demands of Quality Engineer:

  • COGNITIVE DEMANDS: Meet deadlines, focus attention, work independently, independent judgments, work with a team, communicating, reading comprehension, critical thinking/troubleshooting.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: seeing, speaking, hearing, sitting, walk/climb, stand/reach, listen, writing, driving, keyboarding, Working in extreme heat/cold. Push/pull/lift/carry 25 pounds.
