The Wellesley Council on Aging (COA) is seeking responsible individual(s) to drive the COA bus. The COA Bus Driver provides safe transportation to medical appointments, stores, and social engagements for Wellesley’s senior citizens via a 12-passenger wheelchair accessible bus. The incumbent keeps exact passenger records and performs daily safety checks. The work requires a clean driving record, organizational and interpersonal skills, and concern for the safety of passengers and equipment. The incumbent may occasionally be offered opportunities to drive the bus on other days of the week.
Requirements: High School diploma; the ability to read and write and speak English; possession of a valid Massachusetts driver’s license; possession of a clean driving record with no moving violations in the past five years; patience with and interest in senior citizens; and basic familiarity with personal computers and spreadsheet software. Candidates must pass a CORI check and take part in pre-employment drug screening. Mandatory training will be scheduled prior to driving the bus. The work schedule is 8:30am to 4pm two to three days per week, a maximum of 19 hours, as well as on-call as needed to cover vacations and sick days. The hourly rate of pay is $22.98, with an increase scheduled in July 2025, the position is not eligible for benefits.
