Job Description

The Direct Support Professional provides person‑centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in a group home setting. DSPs help individuals build independence, maintain safety, and participate meaningfully in daily routines and community life.

Key Responsibilities
Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and mobility

Support residents with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) such as household chores, budgeting, communication, and medication assistance (as permitted)

Promote independence, dignity, and personal choice in all interactions

Provide transportation to appointments, community activities, and social outings

Implement behavior support strategies and follow individualized service plans

Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive home environment

Document services accurately and timely according to agency and TennCare standards

Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, families, and external providers

Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety protocols

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver’s license

Clean criminal record

Some experience in a group home and/or healthcare setting preferred

Ability to lift, bend, and assist with mobility as needed

Strong communication, patience, and problem‑solving skills

Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Must pass background checks and required trainings


Schedule & Availability
Full‑time and part‑time positions available

Day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts may be offered depending on location

Flexible scheduling across multiple Middle Tennessee group home sites
