Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role assists individuals with daily living activities, personal care needs, community engagement, and skill development while promoting independence, dignity, safety, and choice.

What You'll Do

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:

Assist individuals with daily living activities and personal care
Support personal goals, independence, and life skill development
Encourage participation in community and social activities
Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support
Help with meals, housekeeping, and maintaining a safe environment
Support medication routines and healthcare appointments as directed
Complete daily documentation and follow support plans
Protect the rights, dignity, and well-being of those served while following agency policies
What a Typical Day May Look Like

No two days are exactly alike, but a typical day may include:

Helping someone prepare for their day
Assisting with meals and household activities
Going shopping, attending appointments, or participating in community events
Supporting someone in learning a new skill or working toward a personal goal
Encouraging social connections and community involvement
Providing transportation and support during activities
Celebrating accomplishments and milestones
Completing documentation and communicating important updates

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old
High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver's license
Ability to pass required background screenings and training requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with mobility needs as required
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
